Job summary

We are looking for an OT Manager to join the In Patient Team based at The Cedars & The Junipers, in Exeter.

This is a dynamic and challenging role, managing the OT Department at a busy Inpatient Unit.

We will support you to learn the skills you need to thrive in the role. We will offer you the training and development support you need to begin a fulfilling career. In return, you will need to be motivated, flexible and eager to learn.

Main duties of the job

You will often work under pressure and without direct supervision, so we are looking for someone confident and capable. You will prioritise tasks, and manage your own workload, providing support for your colleagues where required.

You will become an important part of the team, working to ensure that every patient receives high quality care.

Essential

  • Highly developed knowledge of theory and practice of Occupational Therapy with people with a learning disability.
  • Ability to use a range of communication skills to communicate effectively with clients and carers who may be distressed or have limited communication skills.
  • Ability to teach basic occupational therapy principles to wider multi-disciplinary team.

Desirable

  • To be able to produce complex written information in a variety of formats for varied audiences.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Diploma or degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • Registered to practice by HCPC.

Desirable

  • MSc in Advanced Occupational Therapy.
  • Working towards advanced practitioner status/MSc in sensory integration.

Experience

Essential

  • Significant specialised experience working with people with severe/complex mental health needs.
  • Experience in the application of Occupational Therapy models to service users with complex needs.
  • Ability to manage a complex caseload and competing priorities.

Desirable

  • Experience of service development and leading change.
