Job summary

Are you ready to develop into a Respiratory Physiotherapy Specialist?

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic and motivated Physiotherapist to join our friendly and supportive inpatient physiotherapy team at Torbay Hospital.

This unique developmental Band 5-6 role is designed for physiotherapists who are passionate about respiratory care and wish to progress into a highly specialist respiratory physiotherapy position. You will begin as a Band 5 Physiotherapist and, following completion of a structured competency framework and approximately 12 months of supported development, progress to a Band 6 Highly Specialist Respiratory Physiotherapist role.

Working alongside experienced Band 6 and Band 7 clinicians, you will gain valuable experience across a wide range of acute and specialist respiratory services while developing advanced clinical, leadership and management skills.

If you already have Band 5 experience and ready for a band 6 role we also have Band 6 Respiratory posts with the same opportunities.

Main duties of the job

You will provide high-quality physiotherapy assessment and treatment across a variety of clinical areas including:

Acute respiratory wards

Surgical services

Intensive Care Unit (ICU)

Emergency Care

Paediatrics

Outpatient respiratory clinics

Pulmonary Rehabilitation services

Community and home-based respiratory care

As part of a large multidisciplinary team, you will play a key role in supporting patient recovery, promoting independence and facilitating safe discharge planning.

The successful candidate will participate in:

A 7-day service (including weekend working approximately once a month)

The respiratory on-call rota following competency achievement

Clinical education and supervision activities

Quality improvement, audit and service development projects

Access to our Clinical Development lead and have supported development opportunities
